I've lost my hat

It's funny how we become attached to some things. My hat is not the most expensive piece of my wardrobe here, nor is the most elegant. It is covered in sweat and dirt, rain and mud.  Kathy bought it for me on a road trip from Las Vegas to La Quinta California a bunch of years ago.  On this trip is part of the shadow pictures and one of the ways that I recognize my profile.
But today, between coffee, a croissant, and going away from the hostel, someone thought I had forgotten it, and picked it up to carry on to Leon in the hope of meeting up.
I know I can and will replace my hat but it won't be the same. We've had an awful lot of miles, golf rounds, and vacations together. I will miss my hat, silly though it seems. But life on the Camino should never be what one expects.

Today's Music:  Walking in Memphis (the Mark Chapman version, not the Cher version...I seem to have that  IV  V  I  VI chord progression stuck in my head)

Today's Paces:  13,363

Tomorrow's Prayer Intentions:  people that provide hospitality as I enjoy a Sabbath day in Leon
